True. The G8/Bonneville (they are still considering reviving the name!) will be released evnetually. Right now the timeline is looking somewhat like this: 2008, GP is dead. Plant retooled for 1st half of Zeta production. Chevrolet Camaro and Impala are the first marks to be produced in 2009 as 2010 models. 2009: Final W-body rolls off the line, a Buick LaCrosse. Plant retooled for 2nd half of Zeta production. Included are the Pontiac GTO, G8/Bonneville and Buick replacement (Lucerne?) in 2010 as 2011 models.

Seeing as how he needs a car in the somewhat near future, let'* stick to vehicles that are out, or at least confirmed to be coming out at "x" time.

G35 sounds like it'* a good choice. If your heart isn't set on a 2-door, then the Lexus IS300 (used) or the new IS350 are great cars. The 350 is MUCH improved over the IS300, but both are great cars.

Have you thought about the Acura TL? I know it isn't a coupe, but it is a great driving car.
