Default no more gto?

Ive recearched around and am hearing different stories from different sources. but does anyone know what will become of the gto? Is it being discontinued? I know Gm will be switching to another platform (zeta i believe) Does anyone know if the gto will be continued on that platform or will be killed off in the near future on its current platform

from what I understand, they'll continue making our GTO'* here. If anything, there will be a one year gap, but it'* not going to be gone for good. It'* not clear yet if there will be a gap or not though. They can't keep making them down in aussie land for themselves, due to emissions standards changing down there, so anything they build is for export only. I think the hangup in the decision right now is whether or not it makes sense to keep a plant running like that just for an export market.

But the GTO won't be going anywhere, even if there is a one year gap.

I think the GTO is going to be updated to Zeta along with the Monaro/Commodore and the rest of that line, but the word I hear is even if that happens, that would be the only Zeta we get here.

Chevy sposidly is also getting a zeta platform which would most likley bring the chevelle back to life. Which would be a lot better than what the chevelle almost became the colbolt (notice the similarities to the tail lights on a colbolt ss)

Sadly Zeta is officially dead for the U.*. other than the possibilty of the updated GTO. However, I keep hearing that GM is still funding development on the platform, even after the production versions of the Aussie cars have been unveiled. This says to me that newer cars are in the works for that platform, and since the Aussie line-up is pretty much full, that probably means either U.*. or Euro releases.
