I was about to say, I thought plans for the Zeta platform were killed off for sure a while ago. Though, as GonneVille eluded to, I've read rumors that it may be re-introduced as early as 2008, though most said 2010.

I did find this interesting article on the 2008 GTO a ilttle while back, though I hope this isn't what it'* really going to look like. It'* supposed to be a Pontiac, not a Mitsubishi.

GTO Regeneration: Next-gen Pontiac muscle car reportedly will hit market in '08

What you see in this illustration is a fairly close rendition of what we can expect when the next-generation Pontiac GTO hits the market in 2008. We say “fairly close” because we’ve seen the super-secret spy photos upon which it is based, and the actual shots show a sleeker, wider, lower and, frankly, far more appealing car.

That’* the good news.

The bad news is General Motors’ Aussie division Holden reportedly may not start cranking out these future Goats until 2008, a full two years after production ceases on the 2006 Holden Monaro-based GTO.

One more tidbit: It’* not shown here, but we hear GM is considering doing this GTO as a four-door coupe, using rear-hinged rear-access doors without visible handles.

no, actually the only reason it'* being pulled from production is because it doesn't meet emissions laws in aussie land, where it'* made. they can't make it for the local market, so they need to retool the plant for the future models... it has nothing to do with the car itself. and who knows, they may decide to build it here in the states as well. that would be nice...

on that note, it'* a RWD 400HP beast, with subjective styling. If you've ever driven one before though, it'* awfully hard to knock it. Personally, I like it (yes, I've driven it, and it'* a great ride, and a great interior). And I'm tired of people saying that they didn't follow the tradition of the GTO by not making it stand out... those people forget when the GTO badge was nothing more than a level package that didn't stand out all that much from the car it was normally... the tempest.

But whatever. When it comes back, it'll likely stand out more.

And as for zeta, there'* been a lot of confusion lately, but it will be coming to the US, in some form or another.
