make sure you buy kingsford charcoal and lighter fluid. i've had nothing but good experiences from their products. a good tip when lighting a charcoal grill is to pile the coals in a tall pyramid shape, then douse(sp) them with fluid. light it (carefully!) can wait till the coals are ashed over(as said above). once ashed over spread them out with a stick or whatever. cooked out last night at 4am and the ashing procedure too 9 1/2 minutes. yes i actually timed it...

when i bought my grill from walmart about 2 months ago, i got it for #39.99... and its a 22 in square one... big enough for me and 5 friends...
i believe it was actually walmart brand, but the shelf was on the other side...
i think u will find a better deal
