Am new to forums but recently purchased my first GMC Sierra and to my surprise was told by salesperson (after the sale) that GM does not provide key FOB'* with their 'work trucks'. Found this quite strange as truck has pwr locks, windows, etc. and thought I would throw this tidbit out to see if it makes sense to anyone.

Is this a new (2013) truck, or new to you? Power locks without a remote key FOB control??? Never heard of it.

This is my first GMC pickup and its a 2011 Sierra. Salesman looked me in the eye and told me GM did not provide FOB'* with their 'work' trucks.
Am confused and don't know who to ask what so thats why am throwing it out in forum to get ideas of what to do?
Thankyou for your response.

Go to www.compnine.com and enter your trucks VIN into the inquiry box. It will provide you with a list of options your truck was built with. There is no cost for one search.

I think I may have spoken too soon,,,,,,, I entered my VIN 3 different times to be sure I did not make a mistake and each time I got the following response: Nothing found for VIN Number 1GTN1TEA5BZ384166.

It may be that we don't have it in the database yet, but be sure to check that you

have typed it correctly. Be sure to try back often, we're constantly updating the database.

According to the paperwork the dealer gave me this is a Certified 2011 GMC Sierra 1500 Regular Cab Standard Box 2 wheel drive work truck......... anyone with any ideas what I do next cuz all I wanted was a couple of FOB'* for my door locks........:::::

Does it have power locks? If not there'* your problem. Work trucks are very basic.

Even my work truck had power locks and a key fob with alarm. It was an option when I got mine in 2012.

I own two 2012 GMCs Sierras and both have key fobs.
