we have both Viewsonics and Samsungs at the office... we recently bought two 19" viewsonics and a 21" Samsung...

I think that one of the old 17" Samsungs is much clearer than the 19" Viewsonics, and the 21" (Samsung P1100) is definitely the clearest! Go Samsung all the way!

Samtron is made by Samsung, but I would probably go for true blue Samsung

NEC all the way for CRTs, and ViewSonic for LCD.

I've only ever really like Trinitrons by sony, or the relabeled ones that dell sells etc. I have an LCD now, and contrary to popular belief it'* not bad for gaming or anything at all. I haven't had any ghosting or streaking, or anything. Having the DVI is nice, it makes adjustments almost unnecessary, and is quicker then VGA for atleast LCDs. I dont think i can ever go back to a CRT, flicker free is the way for me! But CRTs can change resolution, but at college i need the very low heat output and the small size. It'* gorgeous.

I would go with an LCD if I had the money. They are very nice.

i've had terrible luck with KDS, i bought one 10/31/01, died 6 months later
but i had cash flowing from my ears so i did the retard thing and bought another, it died too, sent them both in, i had to pay $80 shipping, gave one to my dad, mine just died today, KDS VS190is, right now i'm using the first monitor i ever owned 15" packard bell..... i'm definatly in the market for a new monitor too, 640*480*16 is not cool....

HOLY CRAP that has to hurt, I bet it'* at like 60 HZ refresh rate. If you are gonna be moving it around a lot, an LCD is nice cause you don't have any tubes to jossle loose or break. A Decent 17" LCD can be had for under $400, and remember LCDs are actually the size they are marketed as, where CRT'* are measured from corner to corner including the frame. So a 17" is just a little smaller then most 19" CRTs.

I have the exact same one and love it

Don't get a KDS, it'* like a bad plastic intake on a 3800 II... It'* guaranteed to fail! My roomate had one last year and it bounced around the corners, i would get headaches looking at it! The start button was so fuzzy.

i thought my headaches were from just being on the comp too long regardless of screen, but i've been on this 15" Packard Bell for about 11 hours straight today and i feel great, i can even see across my room, 20ish feet, and read Sony on my PS2
The KDS'* I had must have been messing with me
