Those Escape 4 banger engines are expensive and hard to find also.
I lined up a job for my mechanic buddy for putting in a new 2.4 in an 05 escape and engines were in the $1500 range plus. The 3.0s were like $650 and easy to get.
Maybe not their suv 4 bangers but I guess you never heard of a 4A-GE Silvertop? 100hp/l in 1991 is pretty peppy to me.
