I've have known about OOo for quite some time. But i rarely need to use office software so it just sits in my machine. I also found out about changing the default format the hard way too, oh well, live and learn. I also can use it in both windows and Linux. It comes with Knoppix and Ubuntu pre-installed if i remember correctly. And NOTHING makes me feel better than NOT buying a M$ product. Long live Open source!
Ever try any flavor of linux blackbird? Knoppix and ubuntu are pretty kewl. And they are free. Download from the net. burn to disc. Run it off the CD to see if you like it. If not, no big deal. It won't touch the hard drive. Only reason i haven't switched to it fully would be because of games. And PClinuxos can be run off a thumb drive.

It can be done but i remember reading that the admins have stated that they DO NOT recommend that it ever be done and if you ask them for any info don't be amazed if they don't give it to you. There is however somewhere out there a Linux CD with games preinstalled for it. Wolfenstein ET and some other games like quake 3. There is one for nvidia cards and one for ATI cards.
But i have yet to find it. :(
Besides. it'* a matter of supported games for me. Not so much the operating system. I have had Redhat, pclinuxos, Knoppix, Ubuntu, and at least one other i can't recall now, and they were all good. But Bioshock which i have just finished isn't available on linux. even with wine. I was able to install BF2142. but it wouldn't run :(
and that is only the beginning of the list
And man did Wolf: ET run great!
