Default Military Ordinance Question

I know we have a few Military personel on the forum. So I have a question for you. I play some Black Ops. (Xbox game tag Nighthwk12 [wow I use that name for evething]. Add me ) But I got in a little of a debate about flash bangs.

The guy said you should be able to close your eyes if a flash bang is about to go off, and you should be fine. My responce was that wouldn't matter it would still mess you up.
SO my question is, if you close your eyes and a flash bang goes off. Will it still bllind you?
Thanks

If you totally block your eyes, no. But there is still a concussive force that will mess with your inner ear.

This is the correct answer.

During exercises we use GBS'* (Ground Burst Simulators) to simulate the sound of a mortar attack. It'* a quarter stick of dynamite in reality. It makes a little less flash but a lot more bang. They had us stare directly at one and not cover our ears for one, then later told us to turn and cover our ears. The technique works.
