Mike- how are things in Tucson? We know you like the gun laws, but how about everything else?
You went from a cold and wet and green in the summer state, and from a country bumpkin town- to the desert and a booming area. Share your observations....

Right, where does one start? We moved from a town that consisted of about 30,000 people, the county population is about 80,000. 880 feet above sea level. Green trees, green grass, humidity and water everywhere. Cloudy most of the time. Only 2 high schools and 1 super Walmart. Most homes are 2 story wooden houses or brick houses. Average temp during the summer is 80 some degrees with humidity in the upper 70-80% range. 99% of the roads in town are 2 lane. Snow averages in the FEET during the year.
Boom, here comes the shock.
Tucson. population, 500,000, county population, 980,000. 2500 feet above sea level. No trees. Well, there are, but most of the time you see Cacti. Hardly any grass. Some people have small 'grass gardens'. I have a 'gravel' yard. I use a weed eater to 'cut my yard'. Humidity? What humidity? I can start a fire with just my 2 fingers. Tucson 100* feels like NY 80*. HUGE difference without the humidity. We brought our kayaks. Neighbor seen us unloading them and laughed. Said there was no water here unless you go up to the Hoover damn area(2 hours away). A few weekends ago, we traveled via car to the top of Mt Lemmon north east of Tucson. It was 96* at the bottom, at the top, it was 57*(9000 feet above sea level). This morning, they got snow while it was 60* here in town. Most roads here in town are 3 lane or more. Average houses are single story ranch brick houses. Every house pretty much has central air. I think we have 8 Wal*Marts. Haven't experience a winter here yet, but they say it gets down to about 34*. Versus NY -10*. Most of the time, its sunny. Most of the folk back home are white and black. Here in Tucson, it appears to be white and Mexican. Oh, they say they have 'squirrels' here, but I think they are actually prairie dogs. Kinda miss the squirrels. Some guys in the shop will wear a jacket...when its 65*. I'm in a short sleeve work shirt laughing.
Not sure what else to yak about. So far, most of the folk down here are pretty nice. Not sure if it has something to do with open carrying my pistol. Gun ranges here are nice. We have 1 indoor range and several outdoor ranges. Then there are the millions of acres of open federal land people can shoot on too.

Mike, sounds like you are doing well in AZ! Did you bring your V8 S10 with you?
I think you made a good move. Many "blue" states keep raising taxes, increase entitlements, -yet the states debts and liabilities keep rising at the same time. So many businesses are leaving NY,PA,IL, etc for places like TX,AR,TN,NC,AZ, etc. Makes it hard for working people who live in certain northern states.
Hope to bump into you in AZ sometime!
