They are trying to stop loud mufflers, whether its rice cans or an SLP loud mouth exhaust, I looked over the bill at the state website and it covers pretty much any aftermarket exhaust aside form anything that would be a vintage car

One wonders how many tax dollars the federal government will not send to the state of Michigan if this bill is not enacted.

Its a state thing, not a federal mandate since SEMA laws in other states are not fed funded

It may be a state thing but the feds have their hand in everything. For the motorcycle helmet law the feds threatened to stop highway funds to states unless the law was enacted.

many states have laws prohibiting exhaust modifications, its just not overly enforced.. 99% of citations issued for aftermarket exhaust systems go to kids in mustangs and ricers.. Here in mass and when i was a state safety inspector in NH, there are similar laws, and most people get inspection stickers without much problem at all, unless its rediculously loud.

Same here. I mean hell, we don't even have inspections here.

I agree...it'* basically a law most places, and only enforced for extreme conditions.
