Makes me sick

Makes me sick
I have a friend of mine that just was hired in at the dealership I bought my CTS from. Originally I had resume in hand and was going to apply there, but when my friend told me he applied there I decided not to out of respect. Long story short, he ended up getting hired in and after being hired he was shooting the bull with one of the salesmen there and he was telling my friend how much money he makes off of selling cars. The salesman he was talking to just so happened to be the person who sold me my CTS. My buddy calls me up after he left and started bragging about how he got the job and how he was going to be making so much money. I'm the type of person that is very humble out things I have and my achievements so to have someone constantly brag about what they're going to buy and how it'* going to be so much better than what I have just really bothers me a lot. I don't think people should be like that. I feel like I did him a favor by having enough respect not to apply for the job and letting him have a better shot, and that'* how he repays me by rubbing it all over in my face. I found him the car that he bought from that dealership too, a 2007 Dodge Charger. It just boils my blood. Come to find out, the salesman revealed to my friend how much money he personally made off of my CTS. He made.... get ready for this...
$7,700 in commission off ME when I bought the CTS!! I was just awestruck and couldn't believe it. This is the formula they use when selling cars. They get $250 commission for every $1,000 a new car costs. They get $400 for the first $1,000 of a used car and $350 per $1,000 above that. So with my CTS it works out like this. It was a 22,000 car, so:
400+ (350*21)=$7,750. So basically in ONE day this guy made $7,750 from selling ONE vehicle. This is take-home money mind you, and doesn't even include the dealership'* cut of it. It'* sickening. I honestly am glad I didn't apply at the dealership because I don't think I could go home feeling good about myself and my job knowing that I'm making that much money off of people.. I just can't believe it!

hence the reason NOBODY trust a car salesman.
and as for your friend, if he doesnt make the required sales in whatever time they say.
he will not have a job for long.

$22,000 for a 2005 CTS with 58k Miles. It was only two years old when I picked it up so I honestly do not think $22,000 is outrageous for a car that was $39,000 new. In fact I think $22,000 for any Cadillac two years old is NOT bad at all.
I just checked www.kbb.com and a 2005 CTS with 58K miles is worth a little over $21,000 today. My particular car with 71,000 miles is worth $19,000. So basically 13,000 miles drops the price around $2,000.

I rather think that the co-worker was playing mind games with your buddy and he fell for it hook line and sinker.

As frustrated as you may be, at least you can be comfortable knowing that you didn't actually pay an unreasonable amount for your car. Chalk this up to experience and know that you did a good thing in helping him out. Try not to have bad feelings towards your friend. He may be caught up in the excitement of the new job and may not realize how you feel. Worst case, talk to him about it

That number is a gross exaggeration.
I know several people in the car business, and the BEST that anyone has ever heard of earning is 35% of the PROFIT, not the total cost of the car
