Just to solve the mystery of the "LS6"...
GM is putting a 6.0L 410HP 396FTlb monster in the new C6 Corvette. It'* R&D code is LS6, but I'm not too certain it will be the production code. The rumors abound with this motor: quad OH cam, direct fuel injection (into the combustion chamber, instead of the intake or heads ), supercharged "ultra" version at 520HP, all aluminum...
We'll have to wait for December when the new Vette comes out to see. I don't see them stuffing it into the GTO. The GTO is being positioned to take on M3, A6-T, XKR and the like, not Mustang. More class this time around.

The LS6 is the motor in the Z06, otherwise corvettes have the LT1... The LS6 is another 5.7L v8, but like the LT1 it has a much different feel to it then the normal 350 out of chevy. The Cylinders firing order isnt the same, and the vettes engines are very compact. They wont put an engine that big in the GTO, not yet anyways, tweaking the existing one would be much more beneficial. I've already seen where the GTO is getting a slightly different body style for the second year of production... So look out for that too.
