I've appreciated the LOTR trilogy movies. I've really liked the length of them. I'm sick of paying 7-10 dollars for a movie thats only 90 minutes or so long. :?

Dunno what they did in the US, but here, in the Toronto area anyway, they had all 3 movies playing on Tuesday...almost 10 hrs of LOTR

The LOTR books and films are no waste of time in your life. The stories and lessons are all well learned and great to experience.

These books are far from childrens reading, 1000+ pages with a dozen languages, many untranslated, the main villian not even in physical form, main characters whos back stories arn't even explained in the book, with over 200 pages of apendicies and maps, are too much for a child to fully understand.

These stories were created as a Mythology for England and the British Isles. There is a lack because of Norman conquests and wars in the middle ages. These books were a lifes work. The Silmilarion by J.R.R is another great read (although VERY HARD) and fills in much of the back story.

As the movies go. It was probably the perfect adaption of the books to film. The Visuals were amazing, and unlike the new Star Wars movies, actually added depth to the movie. The acting was top notch, and the sound design and music were simply amazing.

I'm even about to say Star Trek isn't a kids show either. . .
