I can't BELIEVE they're using such a small stupid filter for all these newer cars! Something about that doesn't make sense to me? :?

As for the B9...I don't think that will fit, but I'll be sure to bring the part number with me when I head to the parts store to do a comparison between them to see if it will or it won't...you never know since sometimes the gasket is recessed to the inside.

BUT IT APPEARS, in further research here in just the last few minutes that the B9 might just be the PERFECT one. I need a filter that is 13/16" -16 threads, with a 2 5/8" gasket. I THINK I have enough room for something slightly larger than the designed 3" and I probably have room for a 6" filter...which would probably make it easier to put on and remove ANYWAYS since they barely give you room for air in that little pocket for the filter.

It'll all depend on visual judgment whether I go with the B9 or B30, but I might just get, and fit both to it for the next oil change.

I just learned a load. Rod, THANK you for that info.

Something more I just found out.....

They were using the PF61 equiv filter on the 5300 in 2002 and years before...but then in 2003, switched to this lame *** PF46. Definitely going with that one.

Cross reference: Baldwin B30 / Delco PF61 / K&N HP-2006 / Mobil1 M1-206

Size comparison....
My stock size:

New Size:

I was planning on going with the Mobil1 filter...but it looks kinda small :? Along with the inlet holes looking a little small...I might just want to end up going with the baldwin filter afterall

Gen III not series III... Nimrod jk

Interesting about the oil filters, hope it turns out well. Don't forget it'll increase your capacity a little more.

wjcollier07,
If you get the Baldwin(B30) filter could you take a couple of pictures of the bigger filter next to the POS stock filter? Also take a look at the B9 filter to see if the gasket is the same size, it might fit and you CAN'T have a filter that is to BIG.

Thanks,
ROD
