quick question, whats she goin to school for?? that should also play a role in which lap top to pick... i have taken a few visual imageing clases and 3d design classes and my 2.2ghz desktop fights to run but my 64 bit 3.4 ghz laptop flys through..
both have 1 gig ram

if she not taking anything thats deals with alota puters then that would be over kill but...

If you have a copy of XP laying around then get a Vista Laptop and throw XP on it. Vista costs quite a bit more than XP so get it with the laptop at the cheap price.

Make sure Vista restore CD works before you throw XP on it though. There may be an extra charge to get an actual restore CD/DVD .
