I actually kinda like that rule. There'* a time and a place for everything. And a family location, like the beach, ain't the place I wanna hear some punk, or group thereof, screaming cuss words at the top of their lungs. But, it'* probably one of them things that doesn't get enforced unless someone complains...

No it isn't one of those things. The 1st amendment does not apply to the Va beach ocean front. Sceaming is not needed to get busted. I don't need a extra 10% tax on a burger so I just avoid the OC.

Contrary to popular belief, the First Amendment does not give you the right to swear in public (see our forum rules, sexual harrassment laws, probably your employment agreement, movie ratings, and FCC regulations for a limited example), yell "fire" in a public, verbally abuse/threaten others, etc. It does give you the right to say what you want in a socially acceptable/appropriate manner, whether the message is what people want to hear or not.

I cuss/swear myself. A lot at times. But, I try to keep it to the point that it does not interfere with the rights of others ot pursue happiness with or without their families present.

It'* kind of a pet peeve of mine that people go to a public place, where there will most likely be families gathering, and do their best to be as obnoxious and inappropriate as possible. Not saying it'* you or yours, just a general statement on my part

I understand, and we're just debaiting the laws. No flaming intended. As for your point my view is the forum is publicly used but it belongs to someone, like a store that can set limits of conduct. But in VAB, these rules are enforced by "trained" civ'* and police and they take it farther than- I feel they should. It is a city not a kids park. IMO. As for harrassment laws arguement, there is a diff from saying
f-it lets leave and you need to f-me all night long.

Also I have a few other beefs with this city and this is just part of it. So it may seem to be a small thing- Same a holes that thought this up is forceing the Navy to close my base by building under the flight paths aginst BRAC rulings. They havn't cause we don't have anywere to go YET!

Yeah, no flaming intended. Just a peeve of mine.

As for the city building under the flight line, I'm sure the Navy could find a couple of things they could afford to "accidentally" drop there..

I was born at Jacksonville NAS, and my Dad likes to tell the story of when Jacksonville wanted them gone. The standard stuff. No money to the community, too much noise, don't want that many people from out of the area around, etc. So, the Navy decided to pay all the service members with 2 dollar bills for a couple of months. When the city got flooded with 2 dollar bills, they shut the hell up right quick!!
