i have always have poor hearing, always have to say "what" people think I am not listening.

one ear has always been bad probably becuase I was stabbed there when I was about 9 when I got in a fight......

supercharger whine is not all its made out to be becuase often that follows the cracking/poping noise of the transmission taking a dump....well more often than non-whining cars I guess.

I do have a question though, probably a stupid one but do you talk much or how does that work? like how do you respond to reading lips, do you provide like multiple responses or what?

My brother comes up with the most random questions...seriously!

Anyways, I was just going to say that this has been a really interesting thread. Fuel, you seem like a really awesome and well adjusted individual-and accomplishment that even some with out such challenges in our life never seem to manage. Your attitude is going to take you so far in life. I'm glad you chose to hang around with us .

Pmom - that is so interesting! I never knew signing was different in different places...it'* sort like have an accent!

Fuel...you can fly out to WCBF cheap on Southwest. roundtrip for $250 (at least Buffalo to Portland). I'm considering it if I can't take the time to drive out and back.

I'd hate to see what a southern accent looks like. LOL

Actually, the sign we use up here is really neat, we don't use full sentences....for example the hearing person would say " We are going to the store", when you are signing you would say, "we store go we" or "go store we", and then of course you have to remember that a deaf person can not hear you if you are asking a question. When we ask a question our voices raise just a bit, so when you are using sign you must use your facial expressions as well as your whole body. It is so interesting, I can't wait to take the second course.

Oh Fuel what is your name sign?? I have two, the ladies in the course have one for me and the school has one for me too.....mine are my first initial which is "N" and at the courses it is the sign for rebel and at the school it is the sign for racing. For the little boy I work with his is "M" and touching his cheek (he is also legally blind)

hmm yes i would have to agree this is a very very interesting thread. at first i would have placed fuel as sorta cocky. not saying against ya but i just sorta had to get to know you sorta better. my self i am a smart azz. i say what comes to my mind and if you dont like it well f* you too. thats just the way we are.

and on the deaf note i was born deaf as well. i can hear now but i have had ear problem my whole life. i was born with my ear canals swollen shut. until i was about the age if 3 i think(might have been 2 ill have to ddb check on that with mom) but like at this time right now i cant hear outa my right ear. havent been able to for about a month now. and its realy anoying being able to hear fine (well sorta fine) one day then not being able to hear the next. and it messes with me, like when you hear somthing form behind you but you cant tell if its coming ffrom the left side or the right side. but i know here before long i will have to get hear aids i realy dont want them. i memeber shelly complaining about the tv being so loud and i told her i can barely hear it and she like i can hear it all the way down stairs. so.... like i said my hearing is goin and my right ear i havent been able to hear for about a month,it will come back but when i dont know.
i got tired of goin to the doctors cause all they wanta do if surgry and i dont wanta deal with that **** right now. but eather way you are not the only one. im 1/2 deaf!!

I kinda stopped talking to him. He refused to accept and be proud. I have tried for a long time to get him to understand that their'* nothing wrong with being deaf. So I gave up, he'* on his own now.
People give you sh*t for being deaf. Do me and yourself a favor and slug the a$$hole in the stomach. Thats bullsh*t. I can't believe people are that stupid.

I think its awsome you're a happy easy goin' guy. I was severly abused as a child, but seeing how happy you are makes me want to let go. Its quite sad that people don't understand others "imperfections" and actually go as far as critisizing them. Thats one of the reasons i'm so glad to be done with high school. There were a lot of dumb sh*ts there.

Yeah... I'm hear. And amazingly in my 5 years here, I have yet to learn sign language past the alphabet. I want to learn now though that I have time, but I kinda want to learn it from a deaf person, cause I find that to be the best way for me to learn.
