Good day gone bad.
Provider = Cingular
I just replaced my motorola phone (paid $200 last year w/contract), it was good until about 3 months ago when it would randomly shut down during when it was in standby mode and I'd always miss calls, battery was fine. Tried another battery same thing. Cingular told me it would be 6-8 weeks to fix it and to have a POS loaner phone, I told them to eff off...this was about 3 months ago, Friday I go in with the same problem and deal with it for a while, they show me an old school motorola brick phone, I said no, lets just get mine fixed and I threw down $230 on a Sony W710i. I did research and that was about what I'd pay online for the phone, so I said..sure why not. Today I was listening to the radio on the phone at work (dang good radio on it)....and poof it died. did not power back on, battery is fine. I let the battery sit undone for 2 hours..same issue. No power at all.
I brought it back to cingular and yep...6-8 weeks even though it is a few days old. they will not return it since its opened...um..yeah THEY opened the box to swap the sim cards..It is pissing me off, I'm going back tomorrow full professional to talk with the main manager..the assistant manager was all that was there today.
Lets just say I'm not too happy with them. Great Cell coverage, best rates,I only pay $28 a month AFTER taxes and fees and I have 2000 minutes right now...600 minute carryover plan..... but it sucks when your phone craps out for no reason.
but yes, its an AWESOME phone, counts calories, steps, radio, 1GB of MP3s, 2MP camera, arm strap, plays movies, pictures are equivilant to low end sony cybershot real cameras...its actually really nice and easy to use..if it would stay turned on lol.

Sounds like a hardware problem from two different manufacturers, not with Cingular.
That'* why I have replacment in my contract. They overnight me a new RAZR if I need it. Haven't yet. It'* nearly 2 years old now. But they always have RAZR'* in stock.

hahaha ive been waiting for 3 months for verizon to overnight me a razr... there insurance blows and so does this moto vc215 they gave me to use till the insurance goes through... speeking of which ill call them today to see what line of BS they give me this time..
I got my T-Mobile Razr (original V3) almost two years ago, it was pretty problem free, I did resolve some firmware issues with updates and mods I found through a few various sites. Form Factor was nice, and it was durable. My V3 had a surface scuff on the battery compartment, and maybe a minor scuff here and there.
But in this case it is the phone, have you removed the battery on either of them any, had them outside in the rain, in the bathroom when showering? (Bathroom can cause corrosion on the contacts/electrical, and with repeated instances will even turn your water damage sticker to show it'* been wet)

Why dont you have the warranty exchange department. I think the number is 1800 801 1101. The can get you a phone within a week.
Oh, BTW, if the phone was purchased from a Cingular store than they have to exchange the phone if its under 30 days and you have the original receipt and the oringinal box.
