Default Cell phones and service???

Ok, I am looking for a cell phone for personal use. Any feedback on what brands / models are good or bad? How about service providers? It will be minimal use and mostly (but not always) local calls.

I am looking for something simple. Doesn't need to play games, GPS tracking, or cook me dinner. It would be nice if it did however have a pc interface for uploading phone numbers, but it isn't neccissary. Something smaller would be nice, but not peanut size. Doesn't matter if it is a flip phone or not but I do like the silver/chorme look with the blue backlight.

So any opinions? Let me know if I missed a provider and I will add them...

Gordy, check out Samsung phones, the have everything that you are looking for and don't have what you aren't looking for.

I have the Samsung N-150 and its great!, but they do have the silver/blue face models and they are bigger then credit cards

NEXTEL!!!!! I dont care what anyone say about there service. The battery last a hell of a lot longer and the phone doesn't get hot if your on it for an hour or 2. If you are in a car and have the radio on, you will hear some noise, the phone is about to ring before it actually rings. Cool phone to me. Plus nationwide direct connect if you know anybody else with the phone.

I got a Motorola i1000 plus with Nextel service for work right now. We only use the 2-way feature on it though. My job (pc tech) keeps me away from my desk roaming the halls about half the day. I know I could add service to it. I actually had service on it a couple years ago. The problem was the account setup using the company phone, company paid 2-way, and personal phone line. I wasn't able to get caller id and voicemail because of what can be done to what lines...blah, blah, blah.... Of coarse Nextel chagred me for all the services for a few months before I realized that they weren't working right. When I called them up they then stated that I couldn't get them because of the way everything was setup. That left a little bit of a bad impression for Nextel with me.

I'm looking for both! In most cases I can buy my own phone and then have whoever I want for service.

I have an Audiovox CDM-9100 and it has real good signal, local and not. I also go through Cellular One, pretty good company. 800 anytime, 1750 weekends, 1750 nights, free caller ID and free voice mail. all for $40/month.
This phone isnt real fancy, nor is it a flip phone, but it'* rather small. silver with a green backlight.
The style phone your talking about...(Something smaller would be nice, but not peanut size. Doesn't matter if it is a flip phone or not but I do like the silver/chorme look with the blue backlight. ) the Kyocera series phones have just that. look awesome!!
