It is a automatic.

I have did some searching with the numbers you gave me and what I have found is that the 42RE was used from 1993-2002 in 4.0L and 5.2L engines. The AW4 was used from 1987-2000 in 2WD and 4WD 4.0L. Would they both bolt up? Is the 42RE just a heavier duty transmsission than the AW4?
