At least the people developing alternative fuels are trying to change or make a difference. The fact is that we have to develop something in order to replace what'* currently in use, and it'* not just going to pop up in your head, it will take years and years of development, and trial and error. There was a time in human history when change was frowned upon, it was called the dark ages, I believe.
Yes, but pick a better resource. grass, garbage, anything else but food. it is driving up the cost of our food and of the food for our food. It is actually driving some farms out of business because their costs have gone through the roof.

downhill with a tail wind isnt enough, i fear.

it seems the car must have been basically falling off a cliff. anyone know what terminal velocity on a prius is?

A prius flew past me once on the highway and i had to be going at least 75 mph myslelf. Wonder how long it took to get there.

I wouldn't say there isn't any bad side effects of trying to obtain sustainable sources of crude oil.
