Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

I'm curious.

Lots of Nascar drivers start by driving Sprint cars on a dirt track and a cheaper prelude to that would be go carts.
Also there are many local tracks with various types of races like hit to pass, Bomber class etc.

Basically, find a local track

Get a copy of heir rules (should be fairly standard, track to track)

Get a car

Comply to above rules

Pay entry fee

Race

Most of them these days are culled from the cream of the existing crop in the lower divisions.

Most of the bigger cup teams will look at hundreds of drivers each year, planning for a new driver in 5 years. Then slowly invest a little money and time in that driver as he (hopefully) moves up therough the ranks and eventually makes it into a a truck or the busch series.

Your odds are better of getting hit by lightning, but if that'* what you wanna do, go for it. I would.
