What do you say when you've swapped two motors into one caddy and neither are overall any better than the pos you removed originally?
The level of disgust Mechanic Dan and I have for the word NorthStar at the moment is lower than Ford 3.8L. (Anyone that knows them will get that one).
The up side is ... we are getting good at it.
My plan is to mount the (current tally) three engine covers to the wall to remind him that we should never willingly choose to replace one of these motors.
For those of you that may have one.. this is pure frustration and not intended to scare you about the future of your motor. I personally wouldn't trust a NTurd.....not even as far as I could drive one in my truck with a full 33 gallons in the tank.
I
my 3800

The Northstar is a fantastic engine, and do not let anyone else tell you otherwise. I highly doubt you are finding quality rebuilt engines from GM. If a Northstar is in a junk yard, its there for a reason, not to be put into another car.
If the Northstar had ANYWHERE near the 3800 aftermarket. You'd all be grovelling at my feet.
The 4.0L and 4.6L engine married to the 4T80E is one of the best offerings out there.

Well it took you long enough, Jim.
I was wondering when someone would show up to defend their honor.
Bill, I do believe that Jim has thrown down the guantlet. You two will have to duel now.
