Default Idling at 2k upon start up!? why so high? esec. in cold??

not exactly my problem but my friends with a 94 gp (3.1engine) but i know of some ppl on this forum having this prob with their bonnies.
SO can anyone help tell me what causes this and which sensor is prolly bad?
btw no warning lights on, just idles at 2k or so when you start it, and oddly usually in the winter. If anyone can help my friend and i fix this that would really help him out

thanks!

When u let it warm up a little while and press the gas down it doesn't go to 1g or so......mine on start-up revs at about 1 1/2g then when u press the gas it'll come down to 1g.

i dont think there is a problem at all, the computer raises the idle when its cold to help warm up the engine, and to help keep it running.. a 0* engine would run like crap at a 900rmp idle

yes throttle body is clean. Looks like it could be the vaccum module. According to manual it regulates rpms and shift points....and just recently he sometimes is highway driving without shifting to OD. so gonna check that.

anyone know how to check this/ fix easier?
thanks
