Yeah, the job market in the US is pretty thin right now. I'm lucky to have a job, but I'm not real happy with it (haven't been for the past 6 months), and I've been persuing the help wanted ads as well as the online sites (monster.com yahoo jobs, helpwanted.com, etc...) to find not much of anything but part time and telemarketing. A few automotive tech positions, but I'd prefer keeping my wrench turning to a part time hobby.
Most of the good jobs in the fields I'm looking to get into are on the coasts.

I am a workaholic! I work hard and I work right. Not having a job this long is frustrating the H*** out of me. But Im not willing to settle for just any job. I need something different and something I can enjoy. Im GREAT with my hands and I love building and fixing electronics and stuff like that. I can be taught anything at all in virtually no time. Please if any of you know any jobs like resemble what Im talking about let me know so I can see if ones available in my area!

Mastic is in Suffolk County NY, on long island. I would just love to be in a trade job. Something orignal and that not everyone can do. Obviously thats not always realistic but I dont want to be miserable my whole life ya know?
I would love to do some real estate investing but in NY thats a difficult acomplishment. I tend to be a very creative person and I have a lot of common sense to find simple ways out of complex situations.
I recently have gotten into computers. I dont know as much as alot of people but Ive built one and basically rebuilt another. I could see myself doing something with computer hardware but I have no clue of the opportunities involed with it.
Looking up this information has proved difficult at best as most sites just want to sell you something. (God Bless America I guess).
EDIT: Ever watch American Chopper or something? If I knew anything about bikes a job like that would be perfect.

Well I can definately relate to this one. I left my job of 9 years due to too much gettin it in the a**. I was tired of being told to keep up and do the impossible (unload 1000-1200 cartons off of a semi trailer in your 8 hour shift!). My back is so messed up that I need a job doing something easier. I decided to take the package they offered and go to school and get A+ and Net+ certified in PC repair. I have been building computers for 4 years now. However needless to say I haven't been keeping up with the schoolwork and my Bonne has me Preoccupied! LOL. Anyhoo my wife is loosing her job as of next week Mon. and I will be getting my last check in the end of Sept. So I guess I need to find a job soon and there is not much out there here. :( Good luck to you on the search for what I am also looking for......
A job that I can say I love to be at and I love what I am doing! I had a taste of that for a year then the company decided to squash that for me! I was a maintenence mechanic and also helped in a 4 month project tearing down a huge structure in the building.
