Don't get me wrong, I have killed squirrels and rabbits when I was hunting them and I've shot squirrels to try and keep them out of the bird feeder. Then I ate the meat and tanned the skins. It'* just the act of hitting them with a car that seems wrong to me...

Go figure...
I have no problem with it. I've gone after and killed squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, woodchucks, and possums. I was in the car when my friend hit a skunk by accident like two nights ago. That stunk. H*** I tried to take out a goose the other day with my car

But I've never had one stick to my car....
An accident is one thing but to go out of your way to kill a harmless creature is just plain wrong! Shame on you!!! Hopefully the next time you cross the street someone with your mentality won't kill you for sport.

Geese are bad news for cars. They're solid, heavy birds, and they're tall enough to hit the bumper squarely, intead of going under. They are perfectly capable of setting off older airbag systems.

I don't deliberately gun for animals, but I don't usually feel bad when I hit one, unless it'* a cat or a dog. I also have a soft spot for raccoons, baecause we raised one when I was little.
However, everyone should carry either a bat or some kind of club in the car. I've had to finish wounded animals on the road before, and I think anyone who doesn't check the animal in question(if possible), deserves to be dropped into rush hour, naked.
I do hate seeing a big furry lump with a couple smaller lumps around it.

I came over a hill one night in the Bonnie, on my favorite back road, flying as usual, and came on a scene out of Watership Down. I swear, all I heard was thumpity, thumpity, whud, thunk.
I probably killed ten instantly, had to whack one with the bat, and couldn't find a few others.

. Big old tough me would rather kill a human that has it coming then cruelly aim for and hit something in my way.... Kind of tells you alot of someones character. The world, media, et all seem to lean children and adults into this tough guy stance and are bent on making little mindless killers of our children, it has always sickened me. Try living in a jungle in 100-120 degree days for over a year, being shot at, killing ramdomly, at whatever threatens your existance and following orders to wipe out all regardless sex or age and you might come back with a little different feeling about life and right of existance.

Chris what you have is a conscience and respect for all life regardless of stature. It is true human nature and takes courage to keep it. I applaud your feelings and dont let a couple of jabs or seemingly humorous pokes at you comprise that.

Okay I feel like i have to say something.

I removed my original comment becaues some has found it extremely offensive and I apologize for that. I posted another 'offensive' comment which I deleted ASAP when I decided it was too offensive and unfornuately GXP Venom got ahold of that post, I apologize for that. I wanted to say I know that I may have lost some respect from some of you guys for my past comment (I know I lost one member'* respect) I deserved that.

And Chris, I apologize for basically ruining your thread, I won't comment again after this. You're a good honest man and you have a consciensce, dont lose that buddy.

I think all of us have done something on impulse that could be considered cruel or inappropriately aggressive. A great many people go on without really thinking about until someone points it out as just happened here.
Give the kid a break, he'* a good dude.

Just so you don't feel too beat down, I didn't find it "highly offensive". Not something i would do or have done, yes. Something I'm gonna lose sleep over, no. It ain't like there'* a shortage of the freakin' things (just come count the holes in my lawn if you need verification )

Fuel if I or somebody gets ahead of your feelings or posting, a PM works wonders. Alot of times I just shot from the hip about things and believe me I AM NO ANGEL. I too do things all the time and then regret them but I try not to glorify those things to ease my conscience. I have come to respect life in all forms and accidents happen. I also respect hunting and fishing as sports, but to indiscriminately kill for thrill of doing so sickens me. "Nuff said on all sides, lets not turn this into a flame contest only to be locked.
