I can't believe this

That I asked to leave early (bullshit, I asked to leave when I was SCHEDULED to leave) and that I didn't "put my all" into my job. This was the guy who said I needed to leave my friends and family behind if I want to succeed in this business.

Petey! WHY are you giving up already? If you were one of my kids...I'd say, "Don't be such a weanie! You found one job...you can go find another."
Be thankful you HAVE parents to live with...be thankful you have a car to sell (though I think that would be a dumb idea at this point) ...be thankful you have the option to go back to school if you wish....be thankful you have two healthy kidneys.

The reality of it is this: Losing a job at this point in your life is nothing compared to what may come your way as you get older. Learn to manage diversity instead of letting it manage you.

PS...you have to work a certain number of weeks to be eligible for unemployment.

Tracy does speak a lot of truth and I agree.

You have every right to be upset though. And ASKING for a day off seems like the lamest reason to fire someone. It'* not like you even got the time off, you just ASKED for it.

If he basically said your job is more important than your family he'* the epitome of dealer scum and you're better off not working under him.

quote from some thing I found.... I don't really understand it, but it seems that your employer may terminate your employment at any time. EMPLOYER.... I'd go to the top of the ladder and don't **** with any middlemen.

The employment-at-will doctrine
The general rule in Ohio is that “unless otherwise agreed, either party
to an oral employment-at-will agreement may terminate the employment
relationship for any reason which is not contrary to law.”1 There is a strong
presumption in favor of an at-will contract “unless the terms of the contract
or other circumstances clearly manifest the parties’ intent to bind each other.”2
The Ohio Supreme Court has held, subject to the exceptions described below,
that the right of an employer to terminate an employee’* employment for any
cause at any time is absolute and cannot be limited by principles that protect
persons from gross or reckless disregard of their rights, or from willful,
wanton, or malicious actions or acts done intentionally, with insult, or in bad
faith.

Good points. But it still sucks what happened. Guy sounds like an a$$. I worked as a lot attendant at a used car dealership years ago and the manager was a total a$$. I will never buy a car from them as long as he works there.

That'* what I thought, and you're right, I'm only 19 and I don't have many responsibilities. When it comes down to it, I just want to be able to save some money and do some of the things I love. I do have my family, and I've taken them for granted. In fact, I've taken advantage of them. I don't really want to go back. The hours were HORRIBLE (60 hours a week), and when it comes down to it, I've been making 5-6 dollars an hour. This is a badly needed wake-up call.

Well then, I'd take this as a blessing and go find something better. IMO that job was holding you back. But you're young enough to make me feel old and I'm only 26 (almost), you have a lot of time.

McDonalds. Mow Lawns.

Its what I do. I rake in about $700-900 a month depending on how many hours I get/steal and mowing.
