Last I knew, those speedo cables are made from a flex steel housing with a hard plastic casing. And I don't think its the first time someone had issues because of the "strong one within".

All it needed was enough pull to topple the cherry picker. That wouldn't take much, and I am sure a speedo cable would fit the bill.
