I towed it back to my buddies hous Friday night (when I took the "after" shots. We looked at it but haven't touched it yet. We're hoping a new chain, gears, and cover willl solve it, if not, who knows what he'll do with it. :?

Not sure what motor it is. I am already worried about it if it is an interfearence motor. If that'* the case the valvetrain is entirely shot. But who knows, it was running for a while with the noise and it didn't seem to break anything... well, not right away anyways.

Saturns are interference head, its a 1.9L DOHC code LL0. the ticking noise is probably the timing chain slapping around (lost tension, thus meaning you lost oil pressure too) and at how fast that timing chain moves it probably broke and lashed threw the valve cover.

If you are or your friend is interested I have a newly rebuilt saturn engine laying around Id be willing to sell, I mean it was just freshly rebuilt, 0 miles. I spent $550 on rebuild parts and thats with employee discount its close to $800 for a rebuild kit from saturn otherwise. Im located in Saint Paul, MN and Id be willing to work out a price.

II have 3 saturns, and Im a guru when it comes to the 1.9L saturn engines so if you have any questions just send me a message on AIM.
