Horrible fuel economy.
i changed the fuel filter on the taurus in the beginning of june. the fuel mileage went from 17mpg, gradually dropping to what it is now, 11mpg. jiffy lube told us the injector seals were bad <would explain why gas was in the oil> so we replaced them. gas mileage remains the same. what else would cause this you guys think? and no, getting a bonneville is not an option right now, so dont bother. infact, dont even crap on fords in this thread. i need to fix the problem, not get rid of it. got any ideas?

Leaky injector seals can't leak fuel into the oil. They leak to the OUTSIDE.
Try for a bad O2, bad plug wire or plug or two or 3. Inspect your plugs, and think about the possibility of a TC or clutch slipping.

but power is as good as it has been since the day we got it, maybe even up a touch.
replaced the wires a few months ago
replace the plugs a month later <bosch platinums> along with cap, rotor, etc
if the tc or clutch was slipping, wouldnt i loose power? the car drives as good as if not slightly better than the day we got it.

You may also want to consider looking for fuel leaks, but do it at least while idling. Check your fuel pressure regulator in particular.

No fuel leaks have been discovered, and several people have looked too.
i will try and check the FPR, that does sound interesting.
But wouldnt this big of a drop be in the it smokes category though?

Curious. I replaced my fuel filter, and my gas milage is looking bad too. I haven't filled up yet, but I am just below half a tank now and I haven't gone 150 miles yet 
But we all know how accurate the fuel gauge is. But usually I get 175-200 right around the half tank mark.
