Most of the people who are homeless are so by Choice... If you ever get the chance to get to Kingston Ontario and walk down princess st the majority of people sitting out there begging are young people very capable of getting a job. The last time I was there some kid I put him in his early 20'* asked if I had some change, He was sitting in front of a store with a Help Wanted sign in the window. I walked in picked the sign off the window and handed it to him.

To many times it is easier to ask then do for yourself. IMO.. :?

I somewhat agree with you. But there are also the people that are homeless and have a job. I'm sorry if you are fully capable of working, you need to f-in work instead of mooch. But there are the people that can-not work, or they do work, but can't afford somewhere to live.

In my neck of the woods, the homeless consist of Veterans who either have mental health problems and dont recieve the help they need, or are alchoholics and drug addicts who cant get a job because of their addiction. Most homeless people dont have the skill set to even fill out an application.

I dont think that someone wakes up one day and says to themselves "I want to be homeless" and decide to just give up like that.

As far as these young adults, their probably runaways or just teenagers who simply dont want to work and would rather take the easy way out. Sometimes people panhandle just because they can. It doesnt necessarily mean that they are homeless.

x2.

I will never give money to a "homeless" person. Nor will I give someone food just because he'* standing on a corner and looks decrepit.

I will, however, volunteer as much time as i reasonably can. There are people out there who need help that i can give, but there are too many out there who will just take advantage of goodness in the world.

So i volunteer for the OU Children'* hospital. So i choose teaching as my profession. That is how I make a difference in the world. But I refuse to offer hand-outs. I will NOT be taken advantage of.

These are people who are living out in the street, for whatever reason, that society tends to forget about. I know if I were homeless, I would at least hope that someone would give me a few bucks to help me out. I agree that some may be greedy at times and may know how to work people over, but when you have an experience like I did with John, then it kind of changes your perspective of homeless people and how not all of them are out to take advantage of people.

Who knows? It might be because they havent eaten in a day or two, or they got to the shelter too late and there was nothing left of dinner...? (Many shelters need Donations due to the increasing numbers of men and women who become homeless)

Until those volunteer services get to them, I dont mind giving a few bucks to a homeless person if it helps them out. Thats just me.

Tony has expressed my feelings.
Thanks for saving me form having to type them.
There are many who are stuck in a bad situation and are having a difficult time.
I will certainly agree to the idea that there are some who
"choose" to be in their situation. I don't know if I would go 100% with choose, but in a sense they do.
Perhaps, though, the ones that "choose" their lifestyle have no feeling that anyone cares about them?
Maybe that act of caring may just make a difference after all.
I dunno, call me an idealist or whatever, but I believe peoples attitudes can make a huge difference on any and everything
know it works for me, and the kindness and love you all shared for me made a HUGE difference in my life.

I have been taken advantage of plenty of times due to my generous nature, but that will not stop me form trying ot help others.
Not telling any one else how to think, or how to live their life, just expressing my point of view.
