Lounge For casual talk about things unrelated to General Motors. In other words, off-topic stuff. And anything else that does not fit Section Description.

Hmm so I just noticed something...

Default Hmm so I just noticed something...

I realized I've been a member for a little over a year now. Which is cool for me, cause lemme tell you where I was car-wise a year ago:

1. I thought my SSE was a supercharged v8, because some redneck told me and I didn't know any better
2. I had no idea where my spark plugs were or what they did, but I suspected they were under the dashboard on the driver'* side
3. I thought my catalytic converter was where the muffler actually is
4. I thought my car was fast
5. I definitely did not know what a fuel pressure regulator was (poor heffie)

Scary huh... that same stupid chick did her own tune-up (all by myself, not even with a car friend) this summer, including the 02 sensor PCV valve and everything, thermostat change.... and done all kinds of odds, ends and minor repairs, including but not limited to straightening wonky weeks and working with scary strut springs and loosening bolts without man help (okay maybe I rang Boosty like five times, nicest guy ever )

AND I even raced the damn thing. I remember feeling like the biggest bad a$$ in the world after my first run.... whether I ran a 16-sec 1/4 mile or not....

So yeah, this is one of those "thanks BC!" posts. Cause I am THE last person in the world that I thought could successfully work on a car, and actually understand all this stuff. I couldn't have done it without you guys. And no one EVER made me feel dumb, which I've always appreciated- at first I was way too intimidated to post because I didn't want everyone to think I was a complete idiot

So yeah, thanks for a great year and a new, expensive, obsessive hobby

Good job Rachael, I geniunely think you have a talent with cars.

During the time I've been a member, I've learned the art of conning other people to do the work for me.

I went over and supervised the 3rd shift guy here at work thru his first ever oil change that he did. He'* been paying Valvoline over $70 every three months. for $50 he got everything he needed including a oil pan bolt wrench, filter wrench, mechanics creeper, 6 qts Mobile 1 and a Napa Gold filter. For some reason, he had a lube gun. LOL

Racheal I imagine you feel about the same as he did discovering how easy some of this stuff really is. I'm glad to see you overcome your fear and get into it. I esp like reading some of your posts of your projects.

WTG!!!
