How long did it take you before the cover was back on?
I think I would left it of for a while longer so I could admire the view.

I'm actually debating doing that for this car. Buy another Northstar with less than 50k and rebuild it, clean everything, put the suregrip stud kit on, etc. The exhaust note is absolutely satisfying, can't wait to add the Corsa kit to it.

Yeah I wouldn't leave it stock lol. If I had the money to rebuild one I'd have enough to figure up some custom cams and a few other goodies...There'* an STS with the 4.6 that has a turbo on it that'* pretty wicked...I just don't think the 4T80'* planetary gears and sun gears would handle too much power though...One of my instructors had an Aurora with the 4.0 N* and he replaced the 4T80 twice before he junked the car. Both times the planetaries were toast (he drives like a sport mod driver cuz he is). As a matter of fact I tore the last transmission he put in it apart and put it back together for all my job sheets on rebuilding an automatic transaxles. I wonder if there isn't a way to get a 4T65eHD to built up...but at that point you're in Ls4 swap territory lol.

The 4t65e won't fit it due to the cutout for the starter is my understanding. How are you going to get the computer to support all that? As I mention below, there isn't tuning available yet

Not yet, Northstar Performance is working on it still.

The thing is, I've heard of a few people building the N* up (Cam work etc). You can use HP Tuners to tune the 4.6 in the 06-09 DTS so I imagine there might be a way around it. I also found a place that has chips for sale for the 4.6 N* so there is a way.

I already know the 4T65 won't fit (it was supposed to say bolt, not built)... I've pulled out the 4T80 in a 2003 DTS (PITA because of the top 2 bolts under the TB/intake) and rebuilt the one out of the Aurora... I just wish there was some aftermarket pieces that fixed what goes wrong in the 4T80.
