help with laptop keyboard

Default help with laptop keyboard

ok my space buton onmy laptop is actin funny

like if i press it on the left side it works fine but the right side i realy have to hit it or it wont work but i always use the right side( i use my righthand) of the button to hit space.... not that bigga deal but an anoying one ya know... but im sure thats why its messed up cause i keep pressin thebutton on the right side....

well is there any ways to fix it?? i have a 5 yr warrenty on this system.. but it has to be sent back to gateway to get fixed and i cant live with out it....

if i take it apart andtry to fix it will it void my warrenty??

More than likely. You can take the keyboard OUT from the laptop and maybe spray some air-in-a-can and blow out anything that may be causing the key to not go all the way down. If that doesn't work, if you have to send them your keyboard, you can still go with an external USB one...you will just lose the mobility factor until your new one arrives.

Dell let me replace my own, I'm surprised Gateway would want an entire unit back just for that job. I agree with Sandrock, although I would try blowing it out while still in the laptop first, but maybe that'* not a good idea.

It'* going to depend on the brand laptop you jave. Each company will have it'* own warranty limitations.

My IBM/Lenovo Thinkpad'* keyboard is super simple to remove, so it'd be a breeze to fix.

Your first stop should be the web site of the manufacturer. Most of them have a support forum, kinda like this one, where someone with a similar issue may be able to help you out.

i havesome caned air round here somewher..... i got it from best buy and i got there extended warranty... i just figured if i had to send it back i would have to send the whole thing(well best buy will)

and customer service isclosed on sunday... and idoubt there wil be any one in on monday..

wahoo i fixed it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! popped that key off and there was a lil something under the button on that side.... cool deall....
