Great shot of that hornet. That thing is creepy.

Insert photography geek stuff...

The FZ5 has a 5.8 x 4.3 mm sensor.

The Canon 300D (the one I have) has a 22.7 x 15.1 mm sensor.

The Canon 1Ds has a full-frame sensor equivalent to 35mm film - 36 x 24 mm.

A medium-format Hasselblad H3D has a 36.7 x 49.0 mm sensor. You pay in the 5-figures to own one of these.

Basically, the larger the sensor, regardless of megapixels, captures more photons of light, hence, more detail.

More importantly noise. All those P&*, tiny sensor'd cameras require mad gain to get reasonable light levels, this induces lots of noise in the images something which I have NO tolerance for.

EOS 1D, Actually the first gen bodies are well below $1000 USD now. But man do I feel outgunned when i'm shooting my Nikon D100 next to the Sport Pix gals or free lancers with a 1D.

Here'* what i've learned
Nikon AF > Not much
D100 FPS = my Fuji S5000 (not a good thing).

Damnit this makes me want a 20D even more now.
