Valium to take when you get too excited thinking you've stumbled on something amazing and wonderful Also valium to give the Bonneville owner when you park beside all of them in a parking lot...especially the owner with the 2k

According to the Pontiac Excitement magazine I have, its called the Competition Group Package that enhances the driving experience with up to .83g of road-holding control and TAPshift, a manually selectable automatic transmission.
Designed for serious driving enthusiasts, the Grand Prix GTP Comp G helps inprove maximum grip. sharp steering response, outstanding handling and a more copliant ride. Completed with a 3800 Series III V6 260hp-280ft. lbs torque, Gen. 5 Eaton supercharger, and a 3.29 axle ratio.

That and you get pretty red brake calipers. Yeah, that is what it is, it doesn't really do much over the GTP, you gain basically a tenth of a second in the 1/4, and a little handling (nothing aftermarket sway bars & STB'* can't fix). But, the tapshift is stupid and I don't even see the point. You know how you can put your shifter in certain gears if you want it to stay in that gear, or you can downshift using the shifter if you want, well that is basically what hte tapshift is. They basically hooked up the 1, 2, 3, and D to the tap shift with up and down buttons. The magazines all say it is useless and doesn't help performance, and they say it is kind of boring with only 4 gears. But they are nice cars.
