I love GR. I'm actually planning to live downtown in a loft in a year or so. Crime happens everywhere, and GR is a generally calm city, especially compared to the east side.

i did a concert in GR April 2nd....i should have met you while i was there...oh well...we'll do sometime soon. i can't say too much, about 10 minutes from me, there was a horrific weeklong riot in Benton Harbor...the entire MI STATE POLICE fleet was out here...they also had a tank...the people burned a bunch of reporter'* cars and flipped them over...i was there...i work with inner city kids, so i saw most of the action...wish i hadn't. :?

I remember hearing about that riot. Crazy stuff.

yup...and it was all because a guy on a ninja bike was being chased through the city blocks a 70mph, hit a curb, and crashed into a house..instantly killing himself...and the people blame it on the cops...they weren't even chasing him at the time of his crash

Yea pretty much. I live about a mile from downtown. Its relatively calm in grand rapids. Wrost thing to happen since the detroit riots is what happened in Benton Harlem[harbor] a while back

all that for a gang shooting they say gangs are a porblem now in GR but im sorry when i lived their i was living in not the best part of town and gangs were just as known as they are now. u just have to watch ur self and not goto the parks at night other wise u WILL get jumped, their gang shooting al the time its just a part of the city life and theolny reason we see it so much now is that the media is telling people about it other wise the non city people wouldnt have a clue.
