I have everything except that Design News article. I'm pretty sure I came across a reference to it when I was looking up all AWD 6000 related articles at the library, but I don't think they actually had a copy of it. :(

Wow! Fantastic article!! I knew about most of it, but plenty of info there to learn from. For example, everyone always wonders why they went with the 3-speed auto in these cars instead of the 440. Well....that answers that. Too bad, though. The 440 would have opened up a world of options as far as motor swaps. Oh well, turbo 3.1 it is, I guess.

Thanks a million for putting that up there! Greatly appreciated.

Interesting post. I'll always have a soft spot for the grand am especially the quad 4. My parents had an 88 grand am with the quad and a 5 speed. Back in 92 when I was 16 I learned how to drive a stick in that rev happy rocket. Poor car ended up needing a new clutch, I can still smell that
