Well, here'* an update. My beautiful Montmorency cherry tree that has given me nearly twenty wonderful summers of sweet treats lost most of its limbs overnight. Starting with that coat of ice in the first photo, then about 8 inches of very wet snow was just too much for the old brittle limbs. I'll be clearing my sidewalks this morning, like a lot of other folks in town, with a chain saw. Hope I can save enough of the tree to get a few more cherries this year.
