Sorry if we're not too supportive. I could never, EVER be a vegetarian for a lot of reasons, and none of those have anything to do with the taste of meats. There are certain amounts of protien, creatine, and other vitamins that you can get from meat that are necessary to your diet. I don't want to be sitting there gobbing down pills all day long or taking protein shakes just to supplement what I should be eating anyway. Its just stupid IMO, and veggie patties are ok once in a while but IMO for the most part they taste like crap. I've read books like Fast Food Nation and a couple of other similar ones that describe the truth about the process of meat processing in regard to fast food chains and grocery stores, but even those won't go as far as to keep me from eating meat entirely.

Granted, I will do a number of things to stay healthy. I stick to white meat and pork whenever possible, and I try to limit my red meat intake to once a month or every other month. Its simply not that good for you to be constantly eating red meat. I rarely eat fast food, I don't smoke and never have, and I'll have a chicken salad before I have a burger 9 times out of 10. I consider myself a very healthy person, I work out at the gym 3-4 times a week, I am 6 feet tall and weigh 174 pounds. In the last 2 months, I've had steak for dinner only once, and burgers twice.

There are other ways to be healthy than to simply stop eating everything that once moved.

From what I have gathered in his post, it'* a mind thing more then health. The smell is stuck there and can have a powerful effect on the body. If this is what you wish to do, then by all means do it. I have no problem with a vegan, in fact I know several, all are in my opinion very thin. I have a problem when they condemn me for eating meat. We each choose our life style and should respect others choices.

I eat all food in moderation and understand that the production/packaging etc of the mass food market is disgusting overall. Not only meat packing, also the veggy packing etc.

In the accounting world you come across many things. An auditor friend during her public accounting days did an audit at a Kellogg facility. She drove in to find a parking lot or two full of corn stalks etc with flies buzzing and all kinds of animals routing around in it. Decided to ask about that one day to find out it was Corn Flakes. While the initial sight of the way it'* handled disgusted her etc, she was informed that during the process it'* superheated blah blah. She'll never eat a corn flake again.

In short, no matter what it is, likely we'd be disgusted at how it'* handled, packed and overall dealt with before we see the food product at the store. The only difference is...most of the population never pays attention as they are herded through life.

Meat isn't the culprit to bad health, it the kind of meat, amount, and fat content within.

Pure oxygen will make you retarded, but try living without any. Most things in life seem to be that way.

So a buddy of mine, 4 years on the job, 6'4, 260lbs, beat cop went vegetarian. This is the same guy that I used to go out to the local pub and him and we would both pound back around 3lbs of wings (each) like cavemen!!!!!!!!!

He meets a nurse (this is the part where you can just figure out for yourself where he gets derailed).

Next thing i know. This guy has 100% given up meat. no joke. He has been going strong for about 2 years now.

He says he feels better, dropped a few pounds.

I suppose he lost his manliness somewhere along the line, or perhaps he made a smart move.
