Why isn't it that yogurt prices change hour by hour? Why not oil change prices? How about computer prices?
I truly believe that the oil industry gets together on pricing. You don't see Dannon change the price of their yogurt because they know it will tick people off and they will buy another brand. Same with any product. In any other industry, companies are trying to gain market share. And they do it by low prices, marketing to differentiate themselves, or some unique feature to their product. You don't see any of that with gas. You don't see BP trying to convince us to buy their gas because it'* the best. You don't see Shell lowering their prices by a dime from everyone else to get more traffic/sales. There are all kinds of products/services that we buy that are basic necessities like gas, yet you still have competition. The very lack in competition with gas is just too obvious to not be collusion.

Thanks for who started this thread. Prices are going up around Flint. We just filled all three of our cars at $2.88 a gallon ($130 total). Interestingly enough, the competitor across the street had gas for $3.19 a gallon (same grade--regular). Prices are definitely on the rise...

when prices go up i usually have an extra few days and i can still get the price from before, there is a little privatly owned gas station and he sets the price according to what he bought the gas for, not the price everyone else puts up...it just sucks when the prices go down...if they do

Gas will never go back down. If you want gas to go back down, lets take out the big guys that get paided $40 mil. a day and put them to work in a minimum wage job, and give them a rusted out shitbox to drive. Leave them in that position for a few months, and see how they like it. Hell, give them double the minimum wage. Then they'd understand maybe. It'* all about money and those who have it are going to have it, those who don't.... won't.

I agree. My boss is so tight he squeeks when he walks. He doesn't get affected by the cost of gas, utilities, groceries increasing. He doesn't realize that me and my co-worker are living on paycheck to paycheck. Gas for me costs about $30 per week. I drive 23 miles one way to make this man money. We have asked for a raise but he grumbles and says he isn't making as much as he did last year yet he just transferred $18,000 from his savings in to his checking account for his own purpose. He CAN afford to give us a raise he just won't get off of his wallet. That is why we aren't doing all that we can do, why should we help him get richer when we are barely surviving??

Something has got to give with these gas prices! It is insane, they change hour by hour some days. It just isn't right
