Hyrdrogen has WAAAY too many problems for std passenger cars at this point.

Our gas prices are low because our govt doesn't tax the crap out of it like in the UK. Also, urban sprawl doesn't help.

many years ago i had a chevy monte carlo with a 229cu in which had fitted on it LPG liqud petroleum gas what they done was put a round tank in the boot (trunk) and a external vavle on the outside so you could fill up easy this chevy actually came from belgium .
LPG is just starting to take off again after nearly 20 years away price per litre is about 37p which is $1.62 to the gallon

Yes, you are right. When my wife and I went to Australia nearly all the cars were run on LPG. I must say it was odd to see a large LP tank in the trunk (boot) of the car.

A lot of taxis run on LPG, too. I don't know many of the specifics about it, but I think that engines that run on LPG last longer (don't quote me on that), but the aren't as clean of a burn.
