ok...dont get me wrong, i like the new G6, and the cobalt, but what was the point?? i dont see why they just didnt keep the sunfire, and the cavis, and market it as a complete redesign on the car....the cavi needed it, and the sunfire, well i kinda liked the sunfire, but the g6 looks better imo.

It'* all about marketing and perceived value, man. You can't easily "rehabilitate" names that have a negative stigma attached to them, and sales would suffer heavily early on if they even picked up at all later. Remember, most people are car-stupid, and they think like that. Oy vey It'* all marketing man. Never took a class, but I understand it. That'* what my reason would be for changing the names, anyway. And I WOULD change the names, although probably not to G6 or Cobalt G6 ain't bad, though; Cobalt'* a little obscure a name, but whatever. I'd change it to something like... I don't know, Cortege or something. Comes off the tongue better :P Anyways, anyone else got a good reason why they'd changed names?

Yea, but those are perceived as being "popular" with all the yokels snatching up overpriced BMWs and Mercedes, so GM wants to cut a little into that however the can. I get the logic in their thinking. Doesn't mean we can't still be pissed about it, though
