Itys been awhile but here in NY if your driving when they get you for this it is a moving violation, but if the car is parked then its not. Same for Inspection.

If its a moving violation then you'll get points and an insurance hike.

The court will likely give you time to pay - just be honest with them. There will likely be a court surcharge on top of the fine, typically in the $70 range around here. Just something else to drain your wallet into theirs....Maybe its already added in already which sounds more than likely given the price.
