I'm with you. Sucks that it happened. Sucks for him that he'* in a position that makes it newsworthy. Sucks that he'* not a star athlete so that he'll get a slap on the hand and sent back to his team....

During my post divorce drinking days, tho, I had days where I didn't remember how I got home the night before (heck, one morning I woke up at work. Cleaned up and everything. not a single memory of any of it). And that was after 10+ years of being a cop myself. Stupid stuff happens to all of us

I never drive drunk. I wont even have one beer and get behind the wheel. And although this may be shocking that police get arrested too, they are human and they do **** up from time to time. Its society'* image of how officers of the law are good doers and they dont apply to the general public, but they do and this goes to show it.

Sentinel holler than thou

To the Editor:

I read with great interest your front-page stories about Brad Hughes, Sherbum-Welcome chief of police, being arrested for driving while impaired. I realize this is considered news. However, I was disturbed this was considered to be big news.

Nobody knows more than Brad how stupid the decision was to drive after he had been drinking. He is currently taking appropriate steps to see to it this never happens again. How do I know this? Because he is my brother.

Having grown up in Fairmont, I always thought we were fair and unbiased when our

neighbors made a mistake. I guess either Fairmont has changed or the Sentinel has. The article(*) I read came across with a holier-thanthou attitude. He is a human being who is bound to make mistakes.

I had no problem with the article being written as I know it is news. However, I don't agree that it was worthy of front-page coverage. Unless that is how DWIs are going to be covered from here on.

Has the Sentinel decided to put ALL DWIs on the front page from here on? Or is this a case of really sticking it to a public figure?

Those who enforce the law should hold it in an even higher regard than those who do not. They see the consequences and effects that breaking it do on a daily basis and in a more intimate level than Joe Sixpack.

I agree with Seth. Personally, with the nature of this DWI, I think the guy should lose his job on the Police force.

IIRC, this is the guy that had his two kids or something in the back seat right?
