I think things are starting to swing in the "right" direction. Polls even show popular support for new nuclear reactors. Same boat as oil refineries.

We always here that one here in California. Either a refinery has burnt down or they are down for maint. Always the same statement. The rep'* are just blowing smoke and it'* getting worse. Here in Orange County I paid 3.08 per gallon for 92 octain. And it is still going up and fast, Last week it was about 2.95 per!

So let'* put a muzzle on Greenpeace and get ANWR opened up and in production.

Thats odd.. there is somewere in Alberta that said they found more oil.. and will produce more then enough oil to support all of canada for 20 years.. but due to OPEC.. we're fudged by it..

It might not be due to OPEC. It might be due to the fact that a cute little spotted owl and a darling little tree frog live there. And since Human Beings are at the top of the food chain, we have decided that no other species on this planet has the ability to adapt or relocate, even with our help. So we absolutley must sacrifice our quality of life (even though we continue to improve technology to benefit the environment) so that the lesser beings, whom could not have possibly survived this long without our influence, can continue to exist in their natural environment. It must be impossible for us to employ technology and have it coexist peacefully with nature. Adaptation for all species must have stopped (not evolution, this is not a religious vent) when Humans became self aware.

Just look at it like this. At the rate the people reporduce and the population continues, in another hundred years or so, there will be double the size of most citys in the world. Even in 1k years, the planet will probably be close to covered in one big city.

I told myself once gas hit $3.00 a gallon I wouldn't drive anymore. Well, it went up to $2.79 here for regular (so 2.99 for premium) and luckily I, for the first time ever, drive a car that doesn't take premium. Since I don't have a job I don't drive much now, but I WILL NOT drive if it goes to $3.00. I've been walking around a lot lately and I am actually going to be parking my car in a week and riding my bike... I don't know about everyone else, but I'm not dependant on it if its THAT much. In the last week I've driven about 60 miles or so, and before this I drove 400+ miles a week regularly, so its actually saving me some pretty good coin.

However, I have always said that if you modify your car and want to go fast you shouldn't complain about gas prices because you're the one that wants to go fast. So if you modify your car and complain about gas prices, unless of course you modify strictly to increase gas mileage, I can't really understand where you are coming from. You would save yourself lots of money if you just didn't mod your car at all.

Want this to work? Boycott the TWO LARGEST gas companies. Try Shell and BP (each has conglomerates). Then only buy from the others. Those two large ones will have to lower their prices. When they lower them, start buying gas from ONE of the two. Then alternate ALL the gas business between the biggest two, but to the one with the lowest price.

THAT will manipulate the laws of supply/demand.

Yeah...assuming people stick with it, and in large numbers....which they won't...
