Sh** Howdy! Root canals are not because their teeth aren't taken care of It happens because of a bacteria that gets in there. My wife brushes 5 or 6 times a day and flosses 2. But she had an infection from the bactreia which distroyed the root. It could happen to anyone.

Your root could die because of blunt trama too. Thats what happened to me.

I had 3 root canals and it didnt hurt at all. I am not kidding. They were done by different doctors even. The shots to numb the area didnt hurt either.. When he reamed the canal to clean out all the root felt real good, like he was massaging my gums......wait.....was that reallly a root canal?
Dont worrry, its not painful until you try to chew on it for the first time. It took 3 weeks before I could chew normally on it.

I have only had one root canal a year ago. It was very painful and the pain persisted for 6 months. Then the gum started to swell and was very sensitive for the next couple of months. I had to get it redone over the course of about 3 visits. That was fun.
......he didn't charge me the second time.
