Is that chain cover really up high enough to need that bulge in the hood, or do you think the bulge was also put there for a "cooler" look. I always thought aesthetics was also a factor.

This is why neons have a bulge as well, the DOHC ones have a buldge in the hood (decent engines)

But those old eclipses aren't somethign to laugh at. The big ones had a turbo and 200 HP (maybe underrated) and AWD. THey are very fast with a manual tranny, and a few mods.

well you have great taste, the early models 90-93 or 94 were the faster of the 2 "generations"

BonneMeMn is right, the turbo Eclipses will give you a run for your money. If you arn't pulling low 15'* they will say bye-bye to you.

I've beated my fair share at the track, but boy do they have some wicked top end.

The buldge is there on the 2.0L DOHC powered cars( turbo or not). The buldge NEEDS to be there. Not the 1.8L SOHC, they have a flat hood. .

BTW they have a timing BELT not a chain.
If you want anymore info on these cars let me know.

Oh, BTW. LittleHoov, just because you dont have tire spin doesn mean you dont have power. It may have been AWD & could have waxed you all over the street.

your're right but.... as the DSM saying goes..... "Cheap to go fast, Expensive to make last...." they break VERY easily
