Default Ebay Question : Seeking Clarity

I have been watching a set of tires listed on Ebay, in fact they are a pair of Michelin Energy MXV4 Plus, the exact same ones that I have expect lower profile and bigger rim (17)

I have contacted the seller and asked the reserve price, her response was she will sell the tires to the highest bidder or anyone over that amount. Now is it kosher to buy it directly for the reserve price even if the reserve price is not listed on Ebay?

Bear in mind I have never bought a thing over Ebay so this is all new to me

TIA

When you say buy it directly are you talking about a personal transaction between you and the seeler outside of ebay? If so it should be fine if the seller agrees to it. They can canel the sell of the item at any time.

I do this all time Jim, just ask them to cancel the auction, ebay still gets its fees from the seller.

ps the new Federal SS595 are awesome, got them mounted today
Hope they last?

Only buy with a credit card, and use paypal (they will hold the money untill you get your items)

eBay doesn't want you to buy outside the auction because they won't get a percentage of the selling price that way, also they can't enforce any outside sales, etc. So they say it'* to protect you, which it is, kinda, but more so to collect more money.

Ebay wont do anything* if you get scammed.

*well.. somthing, but they get back no where near what you got scammed for.
Get in touch with the seller, and see...

I have been in touch with the seller and she has a rating of 99.6% cant go wrong with that.

Still waiting, I hope she posts a Buy It Now option on Ebay so I can do just that.
